Former quarterback Nick Foles is set to retire as a Philadelphia Eagle in a ceremonial contract signing on Monday night, coinciding with the 2024 opening game at Lincoln Financial Field. Foles will also serve as the Honorary Captain for the game against the Atlanta Falcons.

"It will be my first time to go to a game as a non-player. I've never been to an NFL game without a jersey on, running out of the tunnel," Foles said in an exclusive interview for the Microsoft Teams Legend of the Week feature. "I'm so grateful I get to do it as a Philadelphia Eagle."

Foles was drafted in the third round in 2012 and quickly made an impact. In 2013, he threw 27 touchdown passes and only two interceptions, earning Pro Bowl honors. His most notable contribution came during the 2017 season when he stepped in for injured starting quarterback Carson Wentz. Foles led the Eagles through the NFC postseason and into Super Bowl LII, where he earned MVP honors by passing for 373 yards and three touchdowns, and catching a scoring pass on the "Philly Special" play from tight end Trey Burton. The Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33.

"I don't necessarily think about the award too much, but I do think about the team often," Foles said. "When I think back to the Super Bowl, I just think of the guys, the journey, everything we put into it together."

Foles concluded his NFL career with stints at Jacksonville, Chicago, and Indianapolis after leaving Philadelphia following the 2018 season. However, he acknowledged that nothing compared to his time with the Eagles.

"There was just something special when you ran out of the tunnel in that stadium," Foles reflected.

Monday night’s event promises to be memorable for both Foles and his fans.

"I will be there with gratitude for everything," Foles stated. "Philadelphia was always the place that I felt at home. To retire as an Eagle is the right way to end my career."
