Philadelphia Union Homegrown Cavan Sullivan has been called up to the U.S. Under-17 Men's Youth National Team for the upcoming Vaclav Jezek Tournament in Mikulov, Czech Republic, scheduled from August 30 to September 9. The team will face Germany, Czech Republic, and Slovakia during the tournament.
This marks the first training camp of the U-17 MYNT cycle, which includes next year’s 2025 Concacaf U-17 Championship and culminates with the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Sullivan is among 20 players born in 2008 and 2009 selected by Head Coach Gonzalo Segares for the tournament. "Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 are age-eligible for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup," said Segares. He has chosen 18 players born in 2008 and two born in 2009 for this event—Borussia Dortmund forward Mathis Albert and Philadelphia Union forward Cavan Sullivan.
The 14-year-old Homegrown player is one of eleven athletes called up from a Major League Soccer club. Additionally, he is one of seven players who represented the U.S. at the 2023 Concacaf Boys’ U-15 Championship in the Dominican Republic, where he contributed to securing USA's first title in three appearances at that tournament. Sullivan also won the Golden Ball as the best player of that championship.
