Philadelphia Union, in conjunction with Leagues Cup, has announced that the club's Round of 32 matchup against CF Montreal will kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Friday, August 9. Tickets for the match are currently on sale.
The Boys in Blue concluded their Group Stage action with a 1-1 draw against Mexican powerhouse Cruz Azul on Sunday night. The Union finished first in East Group 4 and, due to their seeding, are rewarded with homefield advantage for the opening Knockout Round contest.
CF Montreal advanced to the Round of 32 after securing three points in East Group 2 action. They began their run with a 4-1 setback to Orlando City SC but rebounded with a pivotal 3-2 victory over Atlético San Luis to secure the second spot from the group.
Friday's contest will be the third meeting in 2024 between these two Eastern Conference foes. Philadelphia and Montreal battled to a 2-2 draw on June 1 at Subaru Park in a match that saw both clubs finish with ten men. A few weeks later, they met again in Canada where Montreal scored three goals in the final minutes of the match to secure a 4-2 win.
