Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts announced the arrival of men's and women's flag football as an Olympic event in 2028 through an advertisement campaign that debuted on Monday. Hurts, who has been named to the Pro Bowl twice, lit the torch at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where the 2028 Summer Olympics will be held.
"It's our turn," declared Hurts in the promotional campaign. Whether he will play as a quarterback for Team USA remains uncertain.
Hurts has also shown strong support for women's sports. In June, he attended the Eagles Girls Flag Football League Championships at the NovaCare Complex, posing for pictures with winning teams from Pennsylvania (Archbishop Wood) and New Jersey (Kingsway).
"It was an honor to be a part of this and witness this special event," Hurts said in June. "There has to be some respect put on the work that it takes to prepare to play any type of game. Just to see how dialed in and focused they were, how excited they were to play the game, that meant a lot."
"There is a lot of talent there. These young girls have the opportunity to play the game they love and that's what it's all about. I was a fan out there and I loved every moment of it."
