Philadelphia Union Homegrowns Jack McGlynn, Nate Harriel, and Paxten Aaronson played pivotal roles in Team USA’s 4-1 victory over New Zealand on Saturday at the Paris Olympics. This win marked Team USA's first-ever four-goal match in Olympic history and positioned them for a potential advancement from the group stage for the first time since 2000.

Head Coach Marko Mitrovic retained the same starting lineup from the team’s opening match against France, with Harriel at right back and Aaronson in midfield. The scoring began with an eighth-minute penalty kick by Colorado Rapids' Djordje Mihailovic, which was awarded after Harriel drew a foul in the box.

Harriel's contributions continued as he assisted in setting up Nashville SC’s Walker Zimmerman for the United States’ second goal by heading a corner from Mihailovic towards the net. By the 30th minute, Gianluca Busio scored another goal for Team USA but had to leave due to injury, leading to McGlynn entering off the bench.

With all three Union players on the field, Aaronson extended the lead to four goals. Despite several promising attempts from McGlynn—including one disallowed goal due to offsides and a late shot that hit the crossbar—the match concluded with a 4-1 scoreline.

Team USA's performance is crucial as they face tournament favorites France in their group. With one win against New Zealand and one loss against France so far, their upcoming match against Guinea on Tuesday will determine their chances of advancing to the knockout stage.
