City of Philadelphia issued the following on Oct. 5

At the Department of Revenue, our goal is to help taxpayers and water customers make payments easily and efficiently. That’s why we encourage you to pay City taxes and charges online with eCheck. Most importantly, using eCheck is free and secure. But it also helps us reduce errors, and you save time.

Tax and water payments can be made online using a credit or debit card as well, but at a cost. You can avoid paying the 2.25% processing fee by using eCheck. Card payments made in person, also have a $3.95 processing fee.

These extra fees are collected by our third-party payment processing vendor. The City does not keep any part of it.

You can pay any City tax or water charge with eCheck.

For tax payments

The eFile/ePay website allows you to pay business taxes, Real Estate Taxes, check your balance online and pay any outstanding tax bills including:

Business Income and Receipts Tax (BIRT)

Net Profits Tax

School Income Tax

Tobacco & Tobacco-Related Products Tax

Use & Occupancy Tax

Wage Tax (annual reconciliation)

Earnings Tax

Hotel Tax

Liquor Tax

Outdoor Advertising

Parking Tax

Valet Parking Tax

Vehicle Rental

Amusement Tax

Here’s what you’ll need to pay City taxes using eCheck on our website:

Your SSN/EIN or Philadelphia tax account number.

Your Department of Revenue PIN number.

Note: Your PIN is generated by the City when you register your business online. If you have never used our online system, you will need to go to select “Apply for a PIN” on the left-hand side of our online services screen.

Your bank’s nine-digit routing number and your savings or checking account number. These can be found at the bottom of any personal check, or by contacting your bank.

For water bill payments

You can also pay for Water service charges, bills, or meter repairs with eCheck at MyPhillyWaterBill. If you don’t already have an account, you’ll need to create one online. When you’re ready to pay, make sure you have:

Your nine-digit Water Access Code (found on your bill)

Your ZIP code

Your bank’s nine digit routing number and your savings or checking account number.

We encourage online payments to keep customers and staff safe during the COVID-19 health emergency. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to schedule an appointment to make a tax or water payment. You must have an appointment to pay your bill in person at the Municipal Services Building. Walk-ins are not accepted in MSB at this time, and satellite offices remain closed.
