8 percent of applicants to the University of Pennsylvania were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Pennsylvania, 95 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 54 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Philadelphia enrolled 25,860 students in fall 2018, including 11,851 in undergraduate and 14,009 in graduate programs, data shows. 1.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

17 percent of undergraduates are residents of Pennsylvania, and 67 percent are residents of other states. 13 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (41 percent) and Asian (20 percent).

The school admitted 8 percent of the 44,491 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 67 percent enrolled.
