ADD B. ANDERSON SCHOOL: Find free meals for students while schools are closed

Groceries 1000x667

Add B. Anderson School issued the following announcement on April 9

To ensure that students can still have nutritious meals while all schools are closed, the School District of Philadelphia, several charter schools, and the Philadelphia Housing Authority are coordinating with the City’s Office of Children and Families to provide grab-and-go meals for children and youth throughout the city.

Not a student? Philadelphia residents impacted by the COVID-19 crisis can pick up a free box of food for their household at several locations throughout the city. Learn more about food sites.

Where to find food and meals:

Find food sites and student meal sites using the map or lists below. (Note: orange dots on the map are food sites, and purple dots are student meal sites)

About student meal sites:

Families with children and youth can pick up meals at 80 locations listed below.

Meals are available from 9 a.m. to noon only. All children and youth are eligible, and no ID is required.

All schools within the School District of Philadelphia will be closed through at least April 6, 2020.

The District is coordinating with the City’s Office of Children and Families, Parks & Recreation, and many other departments and nonprofit partners to provide meal service and activities in safe spaces throughout the city.

District schools open Mondays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. – noon.

Families will receive eight meals per student—4 breakfasts and 4 lunches

Temporary schedule change April 13 and 14:

The School District’s 49 student meal distribution sites will be closed on Monday, April 13. Meals will be available instead on Tuesday, April 14, from 9 a.m. – noon.

This is a temporary schedule change, due to the City and School District’s observance of Good Friday altering the meal preparation schedule.

The regular Monday and Thursday student meal distribution schedule will resume on Thursday, April 16.

The City’s 40 food sites will be open as usual on Monday, April 13.
