Philadelphia Union is set to face Atlanta United in a Saturday night match at Subaru Park. This marks Philadelphia's first game against Atlanta in 2025. Fans can catch the action at 7:30 p.m. on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
This week, Philadelphia Union focused on preparations for its home game against an Atlanta team featuring new Head Coach Ronny Deila. Atlanta United arrives in Philadelphia following a three-match home series at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, finishing with a win, a draw, and a loss. Meanwhile, Philadelphia went through two losses and a draw across a similar three-match period.
Currently, Atlanta United holds the 11th position in the Eastern Conference, having secured only two wins this season. Despite this, they boast talented additions like Emmanuel Latte Lath and the returning Miguel Almiron, who have collectively scored seven of the team's nine goals.
Philadelphia's coach Bradley Carnell commented on Atlanta, stating, "It's still early, there's many twists and turns and their season will come, right? For sure, there's far too much talent on that team for things not to progress in the way that they need to, that it might take a little bit of time. It just shows you and puts context into our situation."
Carnell also highlighted the impact of Miguel Almiron: "Miguel Almiron comes back and he's a dangerous threat -- he's very good in the transition. He's electric both sides of the ball. He's a lot of pace and he runs a lot. They can hurt you in many ways. To be fair, we're going to have to be at the top of our game to mitigate them for the full 90 minutes."
Both teams aim to earn all three points from the upcoming match, with Philadelphia Union eager to regain momentum in front of their home fans.
