Devin Kaplan joins Flyers on three-year contract after Boston University season

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that forward Devin Kaplan has been signed to a three-year entry-level contract. The announcement was made by General Manager Daniel Briere, who confirmed that Kaplan will join the Flyers immediately for the remainder of the season.

Kaplan, who is 21 years old, was the 69th overall pick by the Flyers in the 2022 NHL Draft. Over the past years, he has attended the Flyers' development camps in 2024, 2023, and 2022.

Most recently, Kaplan concluded his junior season at Boston University, where he served as an assistant captain. During that season, Kaplan's team reached the Frozen Four and the NCAA Championship game. Although they were defeated by Western Michigan in the final, Kaplan contributed with an assist. Across the NCAA tournament, he registered three assists.

In the regular season, Kaplan achieved 18 points, including 10 goals and 8 assists, over 38 games. Throughout his time at Boston University, he recorded a total of 25 goals and 64 points in 115 games, which included four power-play goals, two short-handed goals, and two game-winning goals.

Hailing from Bridgewater, New Jersey, Kaplan developed his skills in the North Jersey Avalanche minor program before spending two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team Program. In the 2020-21 season with the Under-17 team, Kaplan amassed 39 points, comprised of 13 goals and 26 assists, in 46 games. In the subsequent season with the Under-18 team, he achieved 38 points, with 13 goals and 25 assists. Moreover, during the 2022 Under-18 World Championships, Kaplan scored one goal and added five assists.
