The Philadelphia Eagles have announced several roster moves, bringing back some familiar players to their practice squad. Defensive backs Tariq Castro-Fields and Mekhi Garner, along with defensive end Charles Harris, have been signed.
Tariq Castro-Fields returns after being released last Thursday. Originally joining the Eagles on October 21, he was a sixth-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. His career includes playing eight games for the Commanders with four tackles recorded. He started his 2024 season with the Panthers and participated in nine special teams snaps. During his college career at Penn State, Castro-Fields played in 52 games and made notable contributions including 138 tackles and three interceptions.
Mekhi Garner rejoins the team after previously signing as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in one game for the Eagles in 2023 before being waived due to injury concerns. Garner brings experience from Navarro College, Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, and LSU Tigers to Philadelphia's secondary lineup.
Charles Harris also returns to the Eagles' practice squad following a waiver from the active roster last week. In Carolina this season, he registered three quarterback sacks among other contributions across nine games.
Additionally, defensive end Tarron Jackson and running back Lew Nichols have been released from the practice squad. Jackson has not seen game action this season but contributed to previous seasons including a Super Bowl LVII appearance with the Eagles in 2022. Nichols joined last week after spending time with both Green Bay Packers and Central Michigan University where he earned accolades such as Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.
