The Philadelphia Eagles have made adjustments to their practice squad by signing quarterback Ian Book and running back Lew Nichols. These moves come after the release of tight end Kevin Foelsch earlier in the week, followed by cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields on Thursday.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni expressed his thoughts on Book, stating, "Highly productive college career. We had an opportunity to get him after he had played a little in New Orleans. Really enjoyed our time with him when he was here. Had some high hopes for him."

Book, who was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2021, has been part of several teams since then. He joined the Eagles at the end of the 2022 preseason but did not see any game action during that season. His journey also included brief stints with the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.

During his college years at Notre Dame, Book set a record as the school's all-time winningest quarterback with a 30-5 record and led his team to two College Football Playoff appearances.

Nichols is rejoining the Eagles after participating in their Training Camp and preseason this year. Initially entering the NFL as a seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2023, Nichols spent time on Philadelphia's practice squad last season before securing a reserve/future contract for 2024.

At Central Michigan University, Nichols achieved significant success, rushing for over 3,000 yards and receiving multiple accolades including being named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2021.

Castro-Fields' tenure with the Eagles was brief following his addition to their practice squad in October. Originally drafted by San Francisco in 2022 out of Penn State, he also played for Carolina earlier this season.
