The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed defensive end Tarron Jackson to their practice squad, a move announced on Thursday. This decision comes with the release of quarterback Will Grier from the same squad to accommodate Jackson's return.
Jackson, who stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 254 pounds, was initially drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Coastal Carolina. During his rookie season, he played in every game, recording 17 tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble over 253 defensive snaps.
In 2022, Jackson alternated between the active roster and practice squad for the NFC Champions, participating in five games including playoffs. He spent all of 2023 on the practice squad and contended for a spot during this year's training camp and preseason but was ultimately released during final cuts.
After being waived by Philadelphia, Jackson joined Carolina's practice squad. He was promoted to their active roster before being waived again on October 15 after playing three games and logging 28 defensive snaps with the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Grier joined the Eagles as a free agent this offseason. Known for his previous collaborations with Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore in Dallas and Los Angeles with the Chargers, Grier was originally a third-round pick by Carolina. In his rookie year of 2019, he started two games for the Panthers.
