The Philadelphia Eagles secured a decisive 37-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, improving their season record to 5-2. The Bengals, now at 3-5, continue to seek their first home win of the year.
The Eagles amassed 397 yards in total offense and forced two turnovers—a fumble and an interception—during the game. Head Coach Nick Sirianni expressed satisfaction with the team's performance: "It was exciting. It's hard to win in this league. Doesn't matter if you win by what we won by today, you win by one, win by two, you're going to be excited."
In the first quarter, Joe Burrow led the Bengals on a lengthy drive culminating in a touchdown pass to Ja'Marr Chase. The Eagles responded with a field goal early in the second quarter courtesy of Jake Elliott.
Defensively, Nolan Smith and Milton Williams combined for a sack against Burrow, while Darius Slay disrupted a potential touchdown pass. Jalen Hurts scored his first rushing touchdown after a review overturned an initial call.
The third quarter saw Hurts adding another rushing touchdown as well as completing a deep pass to DeVonta Smith for yet another score. "We knew we were going to get the one-on-one coverage," Smith said about his touchdown catch.
Isaiah Rodgers stepped up defensively when Slay left due to injury: "I just stay ready," Rodgers commented after replacing Slay.
In the fourth quarter, C.J. Gardner-Johnson intercepted a tipped pass from Rodgers' coverage on Chase. Later in the game, Zack Baun forced and recovered a fumble that led to another Elliott field goal.
Key performers included Jalen Hurts with three rushing touchdowns and Saquon Barkley who rushed for 108 yards. DeVonta Smith had six receptions for 85 yards and one touchdown.
The Eagles look forward to maintaining their momentum as they progress through the season.
