The Eagles Autism Challenge, held at Lincoln Financial Field, has raised over $8.1 million and continues to gather funds until May 31. This event marks its seventh year and draws participants from around the globe. Nearly 6,000 people took part in the activities this year, with more than 38,000 donations received and 44 corporate partnerships formed.
Ryan Hammond, Executive Director of the Eagles Autism Foundation, expressed deep gratitude for the support: "The impact is incredible and everyone has embraced this," she said on Saturday. Hammond emphasized that the initiative goes beyond a single event, highlighting their commitment to making it an everyday mission. "We launched in 2018 and then made it through COVID and we have not stopped gaining momentum."
Jeffrey Lurie, Chairman and CEO of the Eagles and Founder of the Eagles Autism Foundation, played a pivotal role in establishing this community-focused event. Lurie addressed participants during the post-event celebration: "It's an amazing achievement year after year and we aren't close to being done yet," he stated.
The event featured various activities including bicycle rides of 30 miles and 10 miles, a 5k walk/run, and a Sensory Walk. The entire Eagles organization participated, fostering connections with fans and families.
Reflecting on the growth since its inception in 2018, Hammond shared emotional moments with returning families: "There were so many little kiddos back when we started... they come up to me and hug me... they've made such great progress." She added that witnessing these changes brings her joy.
As fundraising efforts continue until month's end, both Hammond and Lurie remain committed to their mission of inclusivity and community support.
