With the first wave of free agency concluded, attention now turns to the NFL Draft, scheduled for April 25-27 in Detroit. The Philadelphia Eagles have made strategic moves, acquiring and trading several picks.
The NFL announced 34 compensatory picks on March 9, outlining the order for the draft. Among their selections, the Eagles picked Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo as their first-round choice at No. 22 overall. In the second round, they selected Cooper DeJean from Iowa with pick No. 40.
Significant trades included sending two second-round picks (Nos. 50 and 53) and a fifth-round pick (No. 161) to Washington in exchange for a higher second-round pick (No. 40), a third-round pick (No. 78), and another fifth-round pick (No. 152). Additionally, they acquired Jalyx Hunt from Houston Christian in the third round with pick No. 94.
The Eagles also traded several fourth-round picks during the draft process, securing Will Shipley from Clemson at No. 127 overall after trading with Houston.
Their fifth-round selections included Ainias Smith from Texas A&M and Jeremiah Trotter Jr., a linebacker from Clemson.
Compensatory picks played a role due to free agent departures such as Andre Dillard and Isaac Seumalo signing elsewhere.
