The Philadelphia Eagles showcased Ben VanSumeren as a fullback during their recent 28-3 victory over the New York Giants. VanSumeren participated in five plays, contributing to 60 rushing yards for the team. His blocking efforts were instrumental in Saquon Barkley's significant 41-yard run and a subsequent play that resulted in a 14-yard gain by Kenneth Gainwell.

VanSumeren expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I was just happy for us to crease one and get a big gain." Head Coach Nick Sirianni praised VanSumeren's athletic ability, noting his past as a wide receiver in high school and his transition from fullback at Michigan to defense at Michigan State. "Speed, athletic ability, physicality...we'll see where this goes," Sirianni commented.

An undrafted free agent in 2023, VanSumeren emphasized the importance of belief in maximizing talent: "I'm embracing my role and doing what's asked of me...I'm grateful that I'm in a place that believes in me."

Meanwhile, Tyler Steen stepped up when Mekhi Becton left the game due to a concussion. Steen played 50 snaps on offense during the match against the Giants. Sirianni highlighted Steen's mental toughness: "It takes a lot of mental toughness to not know when your number is going to be called."

Steen noted the discipline required for preparation without certainty of playing time each week. He credited Jeff Stoutland with ensuring readiness among non-starters: "Stout does a great job of preparing us like that."

Saquon Barkley had an impressive performance against his former team with 176 rushing yards, while Gainwell added another 56 yards.

In special teams news, Kelee Ringo has been excelling due to his speed and athleticism. Last season, he achieved the second-highest sustained speed on a single play at 22.58 MPH across the league. This year he ranks as one of Pro Football Focus's top special teams players.

Ringo demonstrated his skills during several plays against the Giants' returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette. Coach Sirianni acknowledged Ringo’s contribution: "Everyone's role is important...he is playing his role to a T."
