The Philadelphia Eagles have parted ways with linebacker Devin White, the team announced on Tuesday. White, who joined the Eagles on a one-year contract during free agency, was not active for the first four games of the season. Despite participating with the first-team unit during Training Camp, he was unable to secure a starting position over Nakobe Dean.
Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio commented last month on Dean's performance: "I just think from the start of Training Camp to the end, he won the job."
White previously played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he earned second-team All-Pro honors and was part of a Super Bowl-winning team. At 26 years old, White entered the NFL as the fifth overall pick in the 2019 Draft after playing college football at LSU.
Following White's release, the Eagles are left with five off-ball linebackers as they gear up for their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns. The organization has yet to announce any corresponding roster adjustments. Additionally, practice windows were opened on Monday for safety Sydney Brown and wide receiver Ainias Smith.
