Matvei Michkov continues to impress in the preseason, scoring a game-winning overtime goal against the Bruins. This brings his total to three goals and three assists in three games. The Flyers were on a power play when Michkov, positioned below the goal line, found space between Joonas Korpisalo’s stick and pad to score.

Flyers general manager Daniel Briere faces tough decisions with forwards like Jett Luchanko vying for spots. Luchanko nearly connected with Bobby Brink on a diagonal pass that was deflected by a Boston stick. Associate coach Brad Shaw praised Luchanko’s problem-solving skills on the ice.

“He finds solutions on the ice,” Shaw said of Luchanko. “When it's starting to unravel, there's certain guys that grab it and figure it out. And he's one of those guys. And to me, there's a huge value in getting those guys. Doesn't matter if they're forwards or D. There's always going to be predicaments that present themselves on the ice. He finds solutions. And I love that part of his game. It points to a long and healthy, fantastically successful career.”

Olle Lycksell has also shown significant improvement during training camp, further complicating roster decisions for Briere.

With Rodrigo Abols and Oskar Eklind likely heading to the Phantoms, the Flyers have 15 forwards competing for 14 spots. The addition of Michkov, along with the emergence of Luchanko and Lycksell, suggests a promising future for the team.
