PHILADELPHIA (August 5, 2024) – Flyers Charities has opened registration for the sixth annual Gritty 5K, presented by Penn Medicine. The event, which allows participants to run, walk, or jog, is scheduled for Saturday, October 26. It will precede the Flyers versus Minnesota Wild game at 1 p.m.

The course begins and ends in the Wells Fargo Center Complex and loops through FDR Park. Participants can expect various interactive activities along the route, including karaoke, caking, ribbon dancing, hula hooping, and break dancing.

Fans are encouraged to showcase their best fur styles for a chance to win the “Best in Fur” award. Other notable outfits may also win prizes such as Flyers tickets. On-site enhancements are available through West Pharmaceuticals to help participants improve their chances of winning.

The event offers both in-person and virtual race options. In-person participants can register for $50 and receive a T-shirt, finishers medal, and car magnets for the first 1,500 runners. Children aged 12 and under can register for $45. Early bird pricing of $50 is available for the first 48 hours.

Since its inception in 2018, Gritty 5K has raised over $750,000 for Flyers Charities' initiatives supporting hockey development and families affected by cancer.
