Promising pitching prospects excel across MLB organizations

Whoever thought it’s the dog days of summer forgot to tell these pitching prospects.

Below is one prospect for each organization who has put up impressive numbers over the past month. This list includes five Top 100 hurlers as well as lower-ranked and even unranked pitchers, both starters and relievers, showcasing a terrific month of mound work.

Blue Jays: Kendry Rojas, LHP (No. 12)

Rojas missed more than two months in the first half while dealing with a shoulder issue but has been solid for High-A Vancouver since his return on July 9, posting a 1.98 ERA with 16 strikeouts over three starts (13⅔ innings). His July 26 outing (6 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K) was his best of the year.

Orioles: Patrick Reilly, RHP (No. 15)

Just acquired at the Trade Deadline for prospect Billy Cook, Reilly joins the Orioles pitching the best baseball of his young career. The 2023 fifth-round pick out of Vanderbilt tossed 21⅔ innings in July, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a notable improvement in command with a BB/9 rate of 2.91.

Rays: Yoniel Curet (No.22)

Over his last eight starts dating back to June 11, Curet sports a remarkable ERA and WHIP with strong strikeout numbers for High-A Bowling Green.

Red Sox: Hunter Dobbins, RHP (No.24)

Dobbins missed the entire 2021 season following Tommy John surgery but has been effective at Double-A with a notable ERA and K/BB ratio over his last five starts.

Yankees: Cade Smith, RHP (No.21)

Smith has allowed just fourteen baserunners while striking out twenty-eight in his last twenty innings in Single-A where he leads the Florida State League in strikeouts and average-against statistics.

Guardians: Parker Messick, LHP (No.20)

Messick has thrived since being promoted to Double-A in late June with an impressive ERA and K/BB ratio over six outings.

Royals: Tyson Guerrero, LHP (No.28)

Guerrero's ERA dropped significantly after not allowing any runs in his last pair of starts totaling thirteen innings.

Tigers: Jackson Jobe,RHP(No.2/MLB No.11)

Jobe has been dominant since returning from injury on July5 with an impressive ERA and strikeout numbers over four starts for Double-A Erie.

Twins: Andrew Morris,RHP(No18.)

Morris posted notable stats including an excellent ERA during this past month after making ten appearances at Double-A this year.
