Thank you to all who attended and supported the Spotlight on Transition Symposium: Supporting Students and Families with Diverse Learning Profiles yesterday. In keeping with the weeklong celebration, here's CHC's fun fact Friday!

Understanding how to be an ally to the neurodivergent individuals around you is vital for making connections, strengthening friendships, and furthering education. Here are 8 ways to be an ally, sourced from LEARNBehavioral, and shared in the graphic attached.

1. Listen to the voices of autistic and neurodivergent people and their caregivers.

2. Throw out your stereotypes.

3. Sympathy is not empathy.

4. If you want to know how they feel, ask.

5. Notice distress? Ask how you can help.

6. Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

7. Be sensitive to the sensory.

8. Get comfortable with noises and movements you don't make.
