Patent office approves 14 patents for Philadelphia innovators in week ending December 11

Patent 4

There were 14 patents granted in Philadelphia in the week ending December 11, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is four more than the week before. Patents included a high ethylene random copolymer with non-migrating oligomers.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending December 11 belonged to The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania who filed in April 13, 2017.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
