Student Art Donations Support Refugees in Philadelphia

Germantown Friends School issued the following announcement on June 13.

Student Art Donations Support Refugees in Philadelphia

The Community Engagement Club, led by Upper School students Oscar Schwartz and Ethan Young, recently donated student artwork to the Nationalities Service Center (NSC), an organization that welcomes immigrants and refugees to Philadelphia and helps them achieve a life of dignity, safety, stability, and meaningful opportunities. Director of Community Engagement Dr. Zarah Adams reached out to the organization to find out how GFS could support their vision and NSC Donation Specialist Ethan Volinsky mentioned that each new home could use some artwork. Students in the Community Engagement Club worked closely with Middle School art teacher Heather Chu Marvill, who provided framing materials, artwork donated by GFS students, and shared her classroom space. We hope our students’ artwork will help a new space feel like home!
