St. Joseph's University recently issued the following announcement.

Jose Antonio Vargas: Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen

Thursday, March 31, 2022, 7 – 8pm

On behalf of the SJU Reads early arrival program, we will be hosting Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas at SJU on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 7:00-8:00pm. We will host Mr. Vargas in-person in the Mandeville Teletorium and also live-stream the event.

Vargas's memoir, Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen, was the 2019 selection of SJU Reads. Dear America chronicles Vargas's life as a DREAMer and also helps to stir dialogue and awareness around the immigration system in the United States.

Please note that the week of Monday, March 28th is UndocuWeek, an opportunity for the SJU community to learn about and engage with the realities of undocumented immigrants and students in the United States. Mr. Vargas' visit is part of UndocuWeek programming.

We have a long list of SJU cosponsors, who generously agreed to fund this event, originally scheduled for March 2020. They are: Asian Studies Program, Department of Communication and Media Studies + Beautiful Social, Department of Political Science + the Thomas Fund, Justice and Ethics in the Law Program, Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Office of the Dean of the Haub School of Business, Office of Inclusion and Diversity, Office of the Provost, Latin American and Latinx Studies Program, Pre-Law Program, Student Senate
