Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio has been named a finalist for the Associated Press NFL Assistant Coach of the Year award. This marks the second consecutive year Fangio is in contention for this recognition, after finishing fourth last season.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ defense, led by Fangio, ranked fifth in the NFL for scoring defense, allowing an average of 19.1 points per game. The team also led the league with a 56.8% completion percentage allowed and had the second-best passer rating surrendered at 75.4.

Fangio’s coaching contributed to strong performances from second-year players Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, both of whom were selected as first-team All-Pro defensive backs.

The winner of the Assistant Coach of the Year award will be revealed during the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday, February 5. Other finalists include Brian Flores (Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator), Vance Joseph (Denver Broncos Defensive Coordinator), Klint Kubiak (Seattle Seahawks Offensive Coordinator), and Josh McDaniels (New England Patriots Offensive Coordinator).
