The Philadelphia Eagles held a brief training camp session on Tuesday, preparing for upcoming joint practices with the Cleveland Browns. The practice lasted about an hour and included several notable moments on and off the field.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts demonstrated accuracy throughout the session, connecting multiple times with wide receiver DeVonta Smith over the middle and completing a 20-yard pass along the sideline. Hurts also delivered strong throws to Dallas Goedert and Jahan Dotson during drills. With Landon Dickerson sidelined due to a knee injury, Brett Toth took all reps at left guard. Defensive back Eli Ricks made a pass breakup during team drills.

After practice, offensive lineman Tyler Steen met with three individuals who have a personal connection to his family history. Steen’s grandfather, Rodney M. Davis, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for sacrificing himself by jumping on a grenade during the Vietnam War to save others in his battalion. At NovaCare Complex, Steen spoke with Kitty Leedom and her son Greg—relatives of someone Sergeant Davis saved—as well as Beth Dougherty, widow of a commander from an adjacent battalion.

“It’s pretty incredible,” Steen said. “This is something that we’ve been trying to set up for a while, and just over the years, just meeting people that my grandfather was able to impact has been pretty cool.”

Steen mentioned he had met this group before as a child but this was his first opportunity for an extended conversation.

“Just knowing how selfless he was, it really gives you something to be really prideful of, but also something that you know is kind of like an expectation that he set,” Steen said. “Just kind of how you got to go about your everyday life, and how precious it is and taking advantage of the opportunities, and things like that.”

The Eagles’ roster features experienced talent at offensive tackle with Lane Johnson on the right side and Jordan Mailata on the left side. Both players are considered among the best at their positions in the NFL and continue to focus on improving their performance each season. Depth at tackle includes veteran Matt Pryor—capable of playing both sides—Kendall Lamm entering his 11th season in the league, Darian Kinnard who can play both tackle and guard after spending last season in Philadelphia’s system, as well as rookies Myles Hinton and Cameron Williams selected in this year’s sixth round.

Laekin Vakalahi continues his development in his second year through the NFL’s International Pathway Program and has seen preseason action.

Injury updates include Landon Dickerson (knee), Elijah Cooks (shoulder), Kenyon Green (shoulder), and Gabe Hall (shoulder) all missing Tuesday’s practice.

The Eagles will hold their first joint practice with Cleveland on Wednesday morning following remarks from Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo.
