Flyers alternate captain Travis Konecny is gaining attention for his performance during January, as he leads the team in scoring despite a challenging month for the Philadelphia Flyers. Konecny, who has been with the organization since being drafted 24th overall in 2016, was named the team’s most valuable player for both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

Entering the final game of January against the LA Kings at Xfinity Mobile Arena, Konecny holds the Flyers’ scoring lead with 50 points, including 21 goals and 29 assists. Trevor Zegras follows with 46 points. In January alone, Konecny recorded eight goals and 14 points to pace the club. Owen Tippett is second in both categories for this month.

Konecny and Tippett each achieved a hat trick in January, with Tippett’s coming on January 23 against Colorado and Konecny’s on January 28 versus Columbus. Both have also scored shorthanded goals this month. Konecny notably scored two unassisted breakaway goals in a win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

Despite these highlights, including wins against Vegas, Colorado, and Anaheim, Konecny remains focused on team results rather than personal achievements. Following a recent loss to Boston, he told Brian Smith: “I’ve been through this so many times. I’m tired of missing the playoffs. That’s kind of all I look at right now. I just want to get points for the team. We need to figure something out.”

He added: “Me and D’vo (linemate Christian Dvorak) have been scoring goals but we’re also giving up goals. If you ask me or him, we’d say if we can limit those (defensive lapses), it’d really help the team. All the leaders would say the same thing. It starts at the top.”

The Flyers will play three more home games before heading into an Olympic break: facing off against the Kings on Saturday, then hosting games against the Washington Capitals and Ottawa Senators next week.

Additionally, fans are reminded that the annual Flyers Charities Carnival will take place on Sunday, February 1 at Xfinity Mobile Arena starting at 10:30 a.m., featuring activities with current players and alumni.
