Three players from the University of Pennsylvania football team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, according to an announcement made Tuesday. The honorees are linebacker Kadari Machen, wide receiver Bisi Owens, and quarterback Liam O’Brien.

Machen, a senior who was selected Second Team All-Ivy, started all ten games at middle linebacker. He finished third on the team with 67 tackles, including 32 solo stops. Machen also recorded 5.5 tackles for loss and forced two fumbles, which tied him for second in the Ivy League. He had double-digit tackles in a game against Harvard and registered forced fumbles against Columbia and Brown. His Penn career concludes with 200 total tackles.

Owens earned First Team All-Ivy recognition in 2025 after starting all ten games as wide receiver. He ended the season with 66 receptions for 696 yards and five touchdowns. Owens had two games with double-digit catches—12 at Harvard and 10 at Lehigh—and posted a season-high 101 receiving yards and a touchdown against Lehigh. In the Ivy League, he ranked fourth in receiving yards and tied for fifth in touchdowns; his average of 6.6 receptions per game placed him third in the conference. Owens leaves Penn ranked seventh all-time in receiving yards (1,664), sixth in receptions (138), and has eleven touchdown catches.

O’Brien started every game as quarterback during his senior year, ranking second in the Ivy League for completions (211), attempts (314), and touchdowns (19). He also tied for having the second-fewest interceptions (6) to earn First Team All-Ivy honors. O’Brien’s completion percentage was third-best in the league at 67.2%, as were his passing yards (2,376) and efficiency rating (146.9). Notably, he rushed for 548 yards—the first Penn quarterback to lead the team in rushing during the Ivy League era—and scored seven rushing touchdowns for a total of twenty-six on the season.

The Penn Quakers Men’s Football team plays its home games at Franklin Field in Philadelphia and competes as part of the Ivy League within intercollegiate athletics at the University of Pennsylvania. The roster consists of ninety-nine players from across twenty-eight U.S. states and several Canadian provinces under head coach Rick Santos (source). The team participates in contests throughout the Northeast region—including Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut (official website).
