Temple University Hospital has received $875,000 in federal funding to support a new project aimed at assisting victims of violence. The funding is part of nearly $3 million allocated for hospital-based violence intervention programs (HVIPs) announced by the Shapiro-Davis administration and approved by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
The grant will be used to launch the Wellness and Recovery through Advocacy and Patient Support (WRAPS) project at Temple University Hospital. The initiative will create three new positions: a victim advocate focused on supporting spinal cord injury survivors, a visiting nurse who will provide care in patients’ homes, and a trauma therapist who will offer mental health services.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on the announcement, noting that these roles are designed to enhance recovery and support for those affected by violence.
