Temple patient reunites with ICU nurses after surviving rare heart tumor

NBC Nightly News recently broadcast a segment highlighting the reunion of Zipporah Washington, a patient at Temple University Hospital, with the medical staff who treated her. Washington, a young mother and nursing student, survived an invasive tumor that affected her heart. The story was aired on television stations in several cities across the United States, including Boston, San Diego, Toledo, San Francisco, Nashville, Birmingham, Sacramento, Fresno, and Palm Springs.

According to Temple University Hospital officials: “NBC Nightly Newsfeatured a heartwarming reunion at Temple University Hospital on November 13: patient Zipporah Washington, a young mother who beat an invasive tumor that attacked her heart while completing nursing school, reunited with the nurses and doctors who cared for her.”

Additionally, it was announced that Labor & Delivery services have been relocated from Temple University Hospital–Main Campus (Broad & Ontario) to a new women & families hospital.
