Temple Health recently partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) to support the STEM Goes Red event, a program designed to encourage young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The initiative offers participants exposure to leading employers and professionals within these fields.
Dr. Eman A. Hamad, Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Program at Temple University Hospital, delivered the keynote address at the event. In her speech, Dr. Hamad emphasized that “STEM isn’t just science—it’s about the lives it touches and its service to humanity,” and urged attendees to “make every beat count” by “transforming your circumstances into the fuel that propels you forward.”
Additional Temple Health staff contributed to the program through breakout sessions and mentorship. David Cridland, BSN, Manager of the Cath Lab/EP Lab, and Gigi Araneta, RN, Cath Lab nurse, demonstrated medical skills and equipment used in their department. Roslyn Scriber, MSN, Director of Business Operations in Cardiology, and Tajmah Kelley, APN, Director of Clinical Operations in Cardiology, served as mentors during the event.
The involvement of Temple Health professionals aimed to provide students with insight into cardiology careers and inspire them to consider roles in healthcare.
The event reflects ongoing efforts by Temple Health to develop future leaders who can improve outcomes for patients and communities.
