Temple Health was featured on May 1 in the lead editorial story of Philadelphia Magazine’s “Top Doctors” issue, which presented first-hand accounts from healthcare workers about their experiences during significant and challenging moments. The feature included Temple Health both visually, with a lead editorial photograph, and through several short stories contributed by its staff.
The magazine’s editorial focused on what it feels like for medical professionals to provide care at critical times. Rachel N. Criner, Assistant Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, contributed a vignette titled “What It’s Like to Say Yes to a Lung Transplant Candidate Patient After Everyone Else Has Said No.”
Hazel Mack, DD, Staff Chaplain at Temple Health, shared her perspective in a piece called “What It’s Like to Pray With a Patient.” Another contribution came from Christopher G. Cann, MD, Director of the Young Adult Cancer Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center. His story was titled “What It’s Like to Give Bad News and Good News to a Cancer Patient.”
These narratives offer insight into the emotional and professional challenges faced by healthcare providers as they support patients through life-altering events.
By sharing these stories with readers, Philadelphia Magazine highlighted the personal side of medicine as experienced by those working within Temple Health.
