Robert McNamara, MD, FAAEM, who serves as Professor and Chair of Emergency Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, spoke to NBC News regarding recent research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. The study found that hospitals acquired by private equity firms experienced a 13% increase in patient death rates within their emergency departments compared to similar hospitals.
