The Philadelphia Eagles have activated left tackle Jordan Mailata from Injured Reserve, as announced on Wednesday. This move comes ahead of their NFC East matchup against Washington. Mailata has been sidelined since Week 6 due to a hamstring injury.
Mailata expressed his readiness for the upcoming game, stating, "I'm feeling good. Just trusting in the daily targets that I'm setting every day just to try and prepare for this game." He added, "It's been a long time since I've been on the field, it feels like it has been. I'm pretty excited."
According to Pro Football Focus, Mailata ranks as the third-best offensive tackle this season, excelling in both pass protection and run-blocking metrics.
During Mailata's absence, Fred Johnson filled in at left tackle, contributing to the Eagles' average of 31.8 points per game since Week 7. Mailata praised Johnson's performance: "Fred did an amazing job...I love him to death. He stepped up and that's a credit to Fred and credit to Stout (Jeff Stoutland, run game coordinator/offensive line coach) for preparing him that way."
While recovering from his injury, Mailata remained engaged with team activities and meetings to stay mentally prepared for his return. As a first-year captain, he acknowledged the challenges but remained focused on rejoining the team seamlessly.
Looking forward to returning to play, Mailata said, "I just don't want to be the reason that we lose this game because the streak is awesome...I'm very eager...if the opportunity comes this week, I'll be there."
