The Eagles announced roster moves following practice on Thursday. The team claimed defensive tackle Byron Young off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders and released defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu.
Young (6-3, 292 pounds) was drafted by the Raiders in the third round of the 2023 draft after a successful career at Alabama, where he won a National Championship and was named a second-team All-American. In his final season of college, in 2022, Young earned first-team All-SEC honors.
As a rookie, Young recorded four tackles in limited playing time for the Raiders, playing 99 defensive snaps and 13 snaps on special teams in six games. The 23-year-old will provide more depth for the Eagles and Vic Fangio.
Tuipulotu was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2021 draft and appeared in 14 games in 2023, when he gathered 22 tackles and two sacks in 162 defensive snaps.
