FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Philadelphia Eagles' 2024 Rookie Class is set to face the New England Patriots on Thursday night (7 PM, NBC10 in Philadelphia), following an encouraging debut against the Baltimore Ravens. The rookies have acclimated to the NFL's demanding schedule and are prepared for their second preseason game at Gillette Stadium.

In their first outing, several rookies made notable contributions. Quinyon Mitchell nearly intercepted a pass, Jalyx Hunt played aggressively on defense and special teams, Will Shipley rushed for 23 yards and caught a touchdown pass from Kenny Pickett, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. led with five tackles, and offensive linemen Dylan McMahon and Trevor Keegan excelled in the ground game. Receivers Ainias Smith and Johnny Wilson also made key receptions.

"It was dope. It was amazing," said Hunt, who recorded three tackles on defense and one on special teams. "Practicing against Jordan (Mailata) and Lane (Johnson) every day made the transition to the game smoother."

Shipley shared his excitement about his first NFL game: "I was nervous, anxious... it was my first NFL game and I've been dreaming of the moment since I was a kid." He described catching a touchdown pass as "a dream come true."

As they prepare for Thursday's game against New England, the rookies have gained valuable experience from joint practices with the Patriots. They understand that each game is an opportunity to secure a roster spot and potentially earn roles for the regular season.

"Nowhere close," Hunt said regarding his progress. "I've improved a lot... but I'm chasing people in my room. I want to help this team win games."

The learning continues for these rookies as they step onto the field once again.
