In October, the Office of Community Engagement held its second Community Engagement Series, which was hosted by Dr. Zarah Adams and John Ceccatti. The series aims to educate sophomores about food security, housing justice, and environmental stewardship.
Emily Russell from Cradles to Crayons discussed how her organization supports the needs of children in poverty by providing essential items like clothing, shoes, and school supplies. Dr. Heather Rice from Whosoever Gospel mission provided insight on the services offered by her organization for homeless men re-entering society, including job training, medical care, and support for securing a permanent home.
The session ended with Avery Peterson '24 and Leah Cornejo '24, who discussed their work and how students can participate in the student-led Cradles to Crayons Club and serve on the Teen Leadership Corps for Cradles to Crayons.
