Bella Brown ’23, a member of the SCH girls soccer team who will attend Binghamton University next year, received a 2022 First Lieutenant Travis Manion & Corporal Michael Crescenz Award at halftime of the Army-Navy Cup last week. Bella, pictured above (left), was one of two high school soccer players who received the award honoring students who “exemplify the spirit of Manion and Crescenz,” who gave their lives to service. Nominations called for players who live by the motto “If Not Me Then Who” or someone who is willing to step in and lend a hand or help someone in need.
“It touches my heart the most because my dad is a part of law enforcement and he’s taught me so much,” Bella told PA Prep Live. “He’s taught me to respect higher authorities and always stand up for myself and work hard for what I want. I look up to his example and others like him all the time, which makes winning this award very special for me.”
A member of an award-winning club team, she is a leader on the field at SCH (the girls team is currently 12-1-1). Off the field, Bella helps organize clothing drives for Syrian refugees with her uncle.
