William Penn Charter School issued the following announcement on June 1.
On Friday, May 27 Penn Charter marked the 128th Color Day, a joyful celebration of community, tradition and friendly competition.
An ominous weather forecast prompted an early start to the day's events, but not a drop of rain fell on Maguire Field over the course of 13 grade-wide events. And with the Blue and Yellow teams competing neck-and-neck until the very end, the day resulted in a narrow win for Blue as the senior rope pull concluded.
The Upper School Symphonic Band played from the bleachers while student flag-bearers processed across the field in the opening ceremony, and the Parent and Caregiver Community provided an array of snacks and refreshments to fuel the festivities. All afternoon the excitement, encouragement and school spirit of the PC community poured in from the sidelines.
