Chestnut Hill Academy issued the following announcement on Aug. 29.
Each month, Subaru honors someone who gives back to their community in some way at a Union game. This month they chose Salazar (who bought a Subaru earlier this summer) because August is “Educator's Month” for them. Salazar was featured on the Union’s Jumbotron at the beginning of the game vs. Montreal on Saturday, August 21, with the shout out:
"Emily Salazar has been teaching English in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area for 10 years, currently serving as an Upper School English teacher at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. She has always had a passion for reading and writing, and she loves that her purpose every day is to promote meaningful growth in her students as readers, writers, and thinkers. She feels honored that she is able to help her students' voices shine through the avenues that matter most to them."
She enjoyed the game on a beautiful night at Subaru Park with her wife, Sam, daughter Sophie (in ECC), and SCH’s college counselor Polly Kimberly and her family.
