University of Pennsylvania junior Zada Sanger has been named Ivy League Player of the Week following her performance at the Delaware Invitational. Sanger, an outside hitter, was also selected as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after recording 26 kills and a .523 hitting percentage across two matches. The Quakers achieved consecutive 3-0 victories over Delaware and Saint Peter’s during the event.

Sanger led all players with 15 kills in Penn’s win against Saint Peter’s, finishing with a .609 hitting percentage for that match. Earlier in the week, she contributed 10 kills and a .308 hitting percentage in a victory over NJIT. For the season, Sanger leads Penn and ranks third among Ivy League players with an average of 3.41 kills per set. She is currently ninth in hitting percentage among conference players at .326.

Penn holds a 6-3 record this season and has won three straight matches by 3-0 scores for the first time since 2009. The team will play at home twice this week: first hosting Temple on Tuesday in their final non-conference game, followed by their Ivy League opener against Princeton on Friday at The Palestra. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

“Zada Sanger was named MVP of the Delaware Invitational after she totaled 26 kills and a .523 hitting pct (26K-3E-44A) across a pair of 3-0 wins over the host Blue Hens and Saint Peter’s. She led all players with 15 kills in the sweep of the Peacocks, hitting .609 (15-1-23). Earlier in the week, the junior had 10 kills and hit .308 in a win over NJIT.”
