Sen. Joe Picozzi announced on Mar. 31 that the Senate Majority Policy Committee will hold a public hearing on April 7 to discuss policies aimed at protecting pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists from aggressive drivers in Philadelphia. The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Community College of Philadelphia Northeast Regional Center.
The event aims to address concerns about reckless driving and its impact on public safety in urban areas. Law enforcement and transportation safety officials are expected to share their insights about the dangers residents face and propose ways to improve road safety.
“Aggressive driving puts lives at risk,” Picozzi said. “We must explore meaningful solutions that support our law enforcement and make our streets safer for everyone.”
Senate Majority Policy Committee Chair Sen. Dave Argall also commented on the importance of the issue, saying, “I’d like to thank Sen. Picozzi for bringing this important issue to the committee’s attention. I look forward to learning more about how we can improve road safety in urban communities across the commonwealth.”
Picozzi serves as vice chair of the committee, where he helps direct research efforts for the majority caucus and assists with scheduling public hearings related to issues affecting Pennsylvanians.
The hearing will be livestreamed on the committee’s website.
