The Philadelphia Phillies have finalized their roster decisions ahead of Major League Baseball’s non-tender deadline. The team offered contracts to several arbitration-eligible players, including Tanner Banks, Alec Bohm, Jhoan Duran, Jesús Luzardo, Brandon Marsh, Edmundo Sosa and Bryson Stott.
Catchers Rafael Marchán and Garrett Stubbs also reached agreements for the upcoming season. According to a source, Marchán will earn $850,000. Stubbs is set to receive $925,000 if he remains on the major league roster or $575,000 if assigned to the minors.
Right-handed relievers Michael Mercado and Daniel Robert were not tendered contracts and are now free agents.
Both Marchán and Stubbs will be out of minor league options in 2026. This could lead to a roster challenge if J.T. Realmuto returns to the team. Marchán served as Realmuto’s backup during the 2025 season due in part to his lack of remaining options. Stubbs spent most of last season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before being called up in September.
Additionally, Philadelphia claimed outfielder Pedro León off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. León was previously acquired by Baltimore from Houston earlier this month but was designated for assignment shortly after. León appeared in 21 plate appearances for Houston in 2024 and played only 25 minor league games this year because of an MCL sprain in his left knee. Despite his limited play this season, León recorded home run totals of 17, 21 and 24 with Triple-A Sugar Land over the past three years.
