The Philadelphia Phillies are set to begin the 2026 season with two Top 100 prospects expected to make the Opening Day roster, a rare occurrence for a team that regularly competes for a World Series spot. The club has reached the postseason each of the past four years but has not returned to the World Series since 2022.

Right-handed pitcher Andrew Painter and outfielder Justin Crawford, ranked among the top three in the Phillies’ prospect list, are likely to join the major league squad at the start of the season. Crawford is seen as a strong candidate for the center field position and could be used at the bottom of the lineup as an additional leadoff-type player. With Zack Wheeler recovering from injury, Painter will have an opportunity to secure his place in the starting rotation.

Aidan Miller, listed as the organization’s top prospect, will begin this year in Triple-A after finishing last season there. The Phillies expect that if Miller continues his late-season improvements, he may soon force management to consider promoting him.

Another notable name is Francisco Renteria, who ranks fifth on the list. At just 17 years old and without any professional games played yet, Renteria was one of two international signees in 2026 to be ranked within his team’s top five prospects. The organization is optimistic about his future after acquiring him as one of the highest-rated international prospects.

Ramon Marquez made significant progress since being signed internationally in January 2025 at age 19 for $10,000. He bypassed lower-level leagues and finished last year with an impressive strikeout rate across several minor league levels.

Conversely, Seth Johnson dropped off this year’s list after contributing positively in relief for Philadelphia last season but struggling with consistency and control issues during his time in Triple-A.

Prospects are evaluated using a scouting scale ranging from well below average (20-30) to well above average (70-80). Among those highlighted: Justin Crawford received high marks for hitting and running ability; Aidan Miller was recognized for power; Andrew Painter stood out with his fastball; while other prospects excelled in categories such as defense or specific pitches.

The Phillies’ current crop of prospects was assembled through various means: primarily via draft selections (20), followed by international signings (8), trades (1), and free agency (1). Projected arrival times span from 2026 through 2031.

The Philadelphia Phillies represent their city in Major League Baseball and connect with fans both locally and nationally through games and community outreach efforts (official website). The team plays home games at Citizens Bank Park—a stadium they have called home since 2004—and operates under executive leadership including a chief executive officer and general manager (official website). As a charter member of MLB’s National League, they serve both regional supporters and broader audiences (official website). Their history includes World Series championships in 1980 and 2008 (official website).

The full Top 30 prospect list features players across all positions, including right-handed pitchers (11), left-handed pitchers (3), outfielders (6), shortstops (5), catchers (2), first basemen (1), second basemen (1), and third basemen (1).
