Homegrown defender Frankie Westfield of the Philadelphia Union has been selected to join the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team for an upcoming training camp. The camp, led by head coach Marko Mitrovic, will take place from September 1 to 8 in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain. Westfield is among four first-team players called up for this cycle.

This selection marks Westfield’s fourth call-up to the U-20 team. He was previously included in May when the squad faced Colombia and Egypt.

The training camp serves as the final preparation before the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, scheduled from September 27 to October 19 in Chile. According to U.S. Soccer, this gathering aligns with its ongoing emphasis on developing young talent through increased opportunities within Youth National Teams, aiming to help players progress toward representing the senior national team at major tournaments.

During their time in Spain, Mitrović and his staff will assess the squad through friendly matches against Morocco on September 5 and September 7 at Pinatar Arena Football Center. Both games are set for a 7 p.m. local kickoff (1 p.m. ET). The final roster for the World Cup must be submitted to FIFA by September 18.

All players participating were born after January 1, 2008, making them eligible for this fall’s FIFA U-17 World Cup as well. The United States is set to compete in Group I against Burkina Faso (November 5), Tajikistan (November 8), and Czechia (November 11).

The roster includes players from twelve different Major League Soccer clubs. For this camp, Mitrović called up twelve players born in 2005, ten born in 2006, and one born in 2007.
