Philadelphia Union has announced the transfer of forward Tai Baribo to D.C. United for a guaranteed $4 million, with the potential for an additional $600,000 if certain performance metrics are achieved.
Head Coach Bradley Carnell commented on the move: “We want to thank Tai for his contributions to the club. Tai is a true professional and gave everything he had during his time here. At this time, we believe this move is in the best interest of both the club and player. This provides financial opportunities to continue to invest in the team this offseason while providing space for emerging talent on our roster. It also allows Tai to continue the next phase in his career. We wish him and his family all the best in the next chapter of his career.”
Baribo, who joined Philadelphia Union in 2023, made 67 appearances across all competitions, totaling 4,410 minutes and scoring 35 goals. He had a notable season in 2024 with 17 goals and continued strong form into 2025 with a total of 20 goals that year. Baribo was selected for the 2025 MLS All-Star roster and earned MLS All-Star MVP honors after scoring the game-winning goal against LIGA MX All-Stars.
Internationally, Baribo has represented Israel’s national team with 23 caps and four goals.
