Philadelphia Union has signed goalkeeper Pierce Holbrook to a short-term agreement, making him available for the team’s match against Chicago Fire. Holbrook, 22, is joining from Union II under the provisions of the 2025 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations.

According to these rules, clubs are allowed to sign players aged 25 or younger from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate on up to four short-term agreements each season. Each agreement can last up to four days, with a total limit of 16 days per player in a season. Players signed this way can be included on as many as four league match rosters but may only play in two league matches during that period. There is no limit on appearances in non-league games under these agreements.

The club’s announcement comes ahead of tonight’s fixture and ensures additional depth at the goalkeeper position for Philadelphia Union.
