Philadelphia Union has announced the signing of Sal Olivas to a short-term agreement. The homegrown forward will be available for the club’s match against the Colorado Rapids tonight and is classified as an off-roster Homegrown player.

According to the 2025 MLS Roster Rules and Regulations, off-roster Homegrown Players cannot participate in MLS League Season competition unless called up on a short-term basis. They can appear in up to six MLS League Season matches per season under such call-ups. These players must be 21 years old or younger during a calendar year to qualify as Off-Roster Homegrowns. As long as they remain on their initial MLS contract, players can continue in this category subject to age limitations. This marks Olivas’ third call-up in his MLS career after debuting against the Columbus Crew earlier this season.

The transaction was finalized with Philadelphia Union signing Sal Olivas to a short-term agreement on July 26, 2025.
