Philadelphia Union lost 7-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday night. Despite the defeat, the Union continue to lead the Eastern Conference with 57 points.

The match was officiated by Allen Chapman, with assistant referees Stefan Tanaka-Freundt and Felisha Mariscal. Mo Mohseni served as fourth official, while Edvin Jurisevic and Brian Dunn handled VAR duties. The game took place under cloudy skies with a temperature of 70 degrees.

Vancouver’s scoring began in the 18th minute when Mathias Laborda converted a pass from Sebastian Berhalter. Emmanuel Sabbi added another goal six minutes later, assisted by Ali Ahmed. Thomas Müller scored twice from penalty kicks in the 29th and first minute of stoppage time before halftime. In the second half, Sabbi netted his second goal in the 61st minute, followed by Rayan Elloumi in the 80th minute and a third goal for Müller in the 88th.

Philadelphia Union started Andrew Rick in goal, with Jakob Glesnes, Alejandro Bedoya, Nathan Harriel, Frankie Westfield, Jovan Lukic, Jesus Bueno, Indiana Vassilev, Quine Sullivan, Mikael Uhre, and Milan Iloski rounding out the lineup. Substitutes used were Kai Wagner—who marked his 200th MLS appearance—Danley Jean Jacques, Bruno Damiani, Tai Baribo, and Neil Pierre. Pierre made his MLS debut during this match.

For Vancouver Whitecaps FC: Yohei Takaoka started as goalkeeper alongside Mathias Laborda, Belal Halbouni, Tristan Blackmon, Edier Ocampo; Andres Cubas; Sebastian Berhalter; Ali Ahmed; Thomas Müller; Emmanuel Sabbi; and Daniel Rios. Philadelphia will next face Nashville SC at Geodis Park in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinal on Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m., broadcast on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Network.

Defender Kai Wagner reached a milestone with his 200th MLS appearance for Philadelphia Union. Homegrown defender Neil Pierre made his league debut during this game.
